Philanthropy

Our Story

Founded in 1977, the American Women’s Club of Southern Ontario (AWCO) began as a small group of American women building connections in Canada. Over four decades, we’ve grown into a thriving community united by friendship, shared heritage, and a commitment to supporting Southern Ontario through volunteerism and charitable giving.

How We Give Back:

The AWCO’s Philanthropy Chair and committee research non-sectarian charities in Halton, Hamilton, and Peel. ensuring transparency and collective support for local initiatives. Every year, we select one or more charities to support, and all funds raised throughout the year are donated directly to that organization.

Philanthropic Impact

OTMH Charitable Pledge

The AWCO fulfilled a $25,000 pledge to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH), funding the Special Care Nursery Quiet Room. The Oakville Hospital Foundation named the room in the AWCO’s honor.

Monthly Drives & Community Support

Throughout the season, the AWCO collects essential items and monetary donations to support local charities and strengthen their impact in the community. Over the years, we’ve supported 30+ organizations, including Halton Women’s Place, Kerr Street Mission, Darling Home for Kids, Food for Life, and more!
