Our Story
Founded in 1977, the American Women’s Club of Southern Ontario (AWCO) began as a small group of American women building connections in Canada. Over four decades, we’ve grown into a thriving community united by friendship, shared heritage, and a commitment to supporting Southern Ontario through volunteerism and charitable giving.
How We Give Back:
The AWCO’s Philanthropy Chair and committee research non-sectarian charities in Halton, Hamilton, and Peel. ensuring transparency and collective support for local initiatives. Every year, we select one or more charities to support, and all funds raised throughout the year are donated directly to that organization.

Philanthropic Impact

There is a saying that goes “Bloom where you’re planted.” Besides enduring friendships, that is what I most admire about this group of women. Whether it’s fundraising for worthy causes, assisting at blood donor clinics, collecting food for food banks, the AWCO has always given back to their community and tried to make a positive difference. Doing serious work while having fun at the same time. It doesn’t get better than that!
