The AWCO is a wonderful social club emphasizing philanthropic endeavours throughout the year. The social activities are lots of fun and there’s something for everyone. I’ve made lifelong friends near and far. Thank you AWCO for being so welcoming!
Becoming part of the AWCO was very helpful when I first moved to Canada in 2000. It was my first move away from Texas, not to mention, out of the US. Everyone was very kind and helpful because they “had been there.” I was even able to join the board, despite having a toddler in tow to meetings. I found becoming a member of the AWCO gave me much needed friends and confidants, as my family and I adjusted to our new reality, that kind of support is crucial to your mental and emotional health.
Not to mention, hearing the experiences that other women were having was a reality check. I remember meeting a woman, not long after we arrived, who told me she had made 8 moves, in just 5 years. Her story, both horrified me and put the severity of my “move” into perspective. Twenty four and a half years later, my family has grown, and we have not only survived, but we’re very happy lifelong dual citizens, probably permanently living in Canada.

I moved to Canada for my husband’s job and our insurance agent told me about the club. I moved to Oakville in March and joined the club right away. The AWCO has been a part of my life since I joined 14 years ago. The friends I have made are friends for life. Some have moved away and some are still here, each one is very dear to me. Anytime I need advice I know exactly who to ask. The AWCO has something for everyone.
